Thank you snow

Thankfully it snowed enough here last night that school was cancelled for Ben. Which gave him another day to work on the master bathroom shower, I'm so excited, thought I'd share.

Week 34

Week 34, the week of the pineapple, estimated 19-22 inches long and 5lbs. Not only is an average baby the size of a pineapple this week it kind of feels like one too. The doctor confirmed last week that our baby girl is now facing head down and getting ready for her grand exit (or entrance). And she's been making a habit of lodging her foot under my left rib, which is always fun.

When we asked about size the doctor said he only likes to estimate that babies are small, medium or large. And so far our baby is medium or average. So I have to keep reminding myself that even though I make look HUGE, I'm just a shorter person with an average size baby growing inside :) average so far anyway...she could still surprise us.

Master Bathroom Remodel

Our master bathroom was the only room not 'upgraded' when we moved into our house almost 4 years ago - is that right - wow time has gone by quickly. We made some quick upgrades a couple years ago, new sink, toilet, floor and paint. But at the time didn't replace the tiny old and dirty shower insert.

I affectionately call this room "Ben's Bathroom" and on average enter the room about once a year. My excuse has always been that we made the upgrades fit the tall one in the house. The sink comes up to my chest and my feet barley skim the ground when sitting on the toilet. But really it's nice to not have to share a bathroom with a boy and the shower was pretty gross. I tried cleaning it a couple times, but had come to the conclusion that it was just old and no amount of bleach scrub was going to make it white again.

So when we started talking about making some improvements to the main/guest bathroom in our house (my bathroom) before the baby comes somehow we ended up focusing on expanding the other bathroom shower first. I guess we thought this would be a quick and easy fix...

Expanded space
Additional plumbing was needed to move some pipes around in order to expand the space. And while they were under the house found a leak under the kitchen sink.
Framed space with backer-board
Ben framed the walls and hung backer-board. And Cliff installed the new shower head pipping very high, to make the tall one happy.

Creepy pink/red goo
Last weekend Ben painted on this pink/red goo to seal the walls before the tile goes up. Its an eye sore to say the least.

New Tile!!
And now...we finally have tile on the walls (well on part of one wall). It's mostly gray in color with some blue, white and beige accents. Ben has a plan to get it finished next week. Hopefully just before Uncle Kelly comes the following weekend to help fix the other bathroom.

Making room for baby

New chair for baby room has finally arrived!
It matches the rug perfectly and is very comfortable.

We're slowly making room for this baby to join our household. Yesterday I worked on cleaning out the kitchen cabinets, drawers, fridge and freezer. Now not only do we have a very clean kitchen, we have more than enough space for baby bottles.

Week 32

It finally happened, I knew it was only a matter of time before the swelling would started. Swollen legs, feet, ankles and hands are visiting for the next two months. During the night most the excessive puffiness goes down, but never leaves completely. I'm sure it wont be much longer and I'll have to stop wearing my wedding ring.

But on a good note the baby seems to be rolling around as usual. Next month starts my one a week doctor appointments, and it will be nice to hear her heart beat so often.

Two photos this week, just for fun.

Week 31

Week 31, 3rd Trimester, some say end of month 7 others beginning of month 8. I like to think of it as two more full months (Feb & March) then this baby is welcome anytime in April (although early April would be preferable). But if your listening little girl March will mess up my maternity leave plans so try not to come that early. Your dad and I were shooting for after April on purpose.

An average sized baby is about 18 inches and 3 pounds this week. And is expected to gain at least 3-5lbs more before birth. I can tell she's getting bigger and bigger each week. Her kicks and rolls these past two weeks have been totally different than before. With less room to move around it went from feeling like quick forceful movements, to long slow powerful and painful rolls and jabs (how's that for a descriptive run-on sentence)!
